SS202 plates and sheets consist mainly of chromium (16–18%), nickel (4–6%), manganese (7.5–10%), and trace carbon (≤0.15%). The composition offers a good strength-to-cost ratio, corrosion resistance, and cost savings. The mechanical properties are tensile strength of about 515–860 MPa and yield strength of 275 MPa. SS202 has good weldability, formability, and toughness. Although less corrosion-resistant than SS304, it is suitable for indoor, mildly corrosive, or low-moisture conditions and is an economical option for general-purpose use.
