SS 348H contains 17–20% chromium, 9–13% nickel, ≤0.10% carbon, and is stabilized by niobium (≥10x carbon content). Mechanical properties consist of a tensile strength of 585 MPa minimum, yield strength of 240 MPa, and elongation of 35%. It is mechanically stable under steady-state high-temperature service (up to 870°C) and resistant to sensitization when welded. SS 348H possesses good resistance to oxidation and superior formability. Its stabilized chemistry minimizes carbide precipitation and is appropriate for pressure-containing, welded structures in high-heat applications.
