SS 316H tube is made up of 16–18% Chromium, 10–14% Nickel, 2–3% Molybdenum, and 0.04–0.10% Carbon. The increased carbon content gives better tensile strength (about 515 MPa) and higher yield strength (minimum 205 MPa), which is suitable for elevated temperature application. It has good oxidation and creep resistance, as well as general corrosion resistance, especially in chloride environments. SS 316H has structural integrity at temperatures of over 500°C and is best suited for application in pressure vessels and heat exchanger tubes that are put under extreme conditions.
