SS 347 tubing is mainly made up of 17–19% Chromium and 9–13% Nickel and stabilized with niobium (columbium). It contains low carbon (max 0.08%) and shows good mechanical strength, and a usual tensile strength of 515 MPa and yield strength of 205 MPa. Niobium addition is responsible for preventing chromium carbide precipitation, enhancing corrosion resistance during welding. SS 347 also maintains its mechanical properties when used at high temperatures, which makes it ideal for high-temperature applications. It is particularly effective in the inhibition of intergranular corrosion in weld structures.
