SS 301 tubing contains 16–18% chromium, 6–8% nickel, ≤0.15% carbon, and traces of manganese and silicon. It offers superior mechanical strength, particularly after cold working. Tensile strength is between 520 MPa (annealed) and 930 MPa (full hard), and yield strength increases dramatically after tempering. SS 301 has good corrosion resistance in mildly corrosive conditions and has excellent ductility and toughness. It becomes stronger and more magnetic with cold working.
