SS 316L valves have around 16-18% chromium, 10-14% nickel, and 2-3% molybdenum content, with the carbon content limited to less than 0.03% in order to minimize intergranular corrosion. Tensile strength of SS 316L is approximately 485 MPa, whereas the yield strength is about 170 MPa. SS 316L valves retain superior strength and toughness even under cryogenic temperatures. The presence of molybdenum enhances resistance to chloride corrosion, pitting, and crevice attack, thus ensuring SS 316L valves to be highly reliable for critical operations.
