Stainless Steel 415 is a martensitic alloy of stainless steel that normally contains 12–14% chromium, approximately 0.15% carbon, and trace amounts of silicon, sulfur, and manganese. High tensile strength (550–750 MPa), yield strength (approximately 300 MPa), and elongation (15–20%) are all provided by this alloy. It is magnetic and has a good resistance to wear and moderate resistance to corrosion. Heat treatment can harden SS 415, improving its mechanical qualities for use in parts subjected to abrasion or mechanical stress. This makes it appropriate for tool-grade, load-bearing, and structural applications.
