SS201 bolts contain mainly 16–18% chromium, 3.5–5.5% nickel, 5.5–7.5% manganese, and ≤0.15% carbon. The alloy has good tensile strength (approximately 520 MPa), yield strength of about 275 MPa, and good ductility and formability. SS201, though having lower corrosion resistance than SS304, has good performance in indoor and mildly corrosive conditions. These bolts are non-magnetic in the annealed state but can become magnetically slightly hard after cold working. SS201 bolts provide a mix of strength, economy, and machinability and find applications in non-critical work.
