SS 309S pipe fittings are corrosion–resistant, fabrication–friendly, low–carbon stainless steel fittings intended for applications where resistance to oxidation and thermal stress is crucial. Produced by Chennai-based Vinit Stainless, these fittings are particularly suitable for use in conditions where oxidation and thermal stress are the issues. SS 309S’s low carbon content reduces the risk of welding-induced sensitization and intergranular corrosion. These fittings are extensively applied in high-temperature process pipe, exhaust manifolds, and heat exchangers. Vinit Stainless offers a range of 309S elbows, tees, reducers, and unions with accurate engineering and adherence to global performance and safety standards.
SS 309S pipe fittings consist of 22–24% Chromium, 12–15% Nickel, and ≤0.08% Carbon. The lower carbon content increases weldability and minimizes the risk of precipitation of carbide on welding. These fittings provide a tensile strength of about 515 MPa and yield strength of 205 MPa. SS 309S is utilized in high-temperature conditions up to 980°C with good resistance to oxidation, scaling, and thermal fatigue. The alloy also exhibits mechanical stability and ductility under heat-intensive applications, and it is therefore applicable to intricate fabrication and piping systems within aggressive heat conditions.
