SMO 254 fasteners consist of about 20% chromium, 18% nickel, 6% molybdenum, and nitrogen (0.18–0.22%), which provide a high PREN (Pitting Resistance Equivalent Number) of more than 42. The fasteners exhibit high strength and ductility with tensile strength ≥650 MPa and yield strength ≥300 MPa. SMO 254 fasteners support mechanical properties in high-temperature and corrosive conditions. Their high fatigue strength and stress corrosion cracking resistance make them suitable for applications involving high performance with the need for both structural integrity as well as resistance against chloride-induced damage.
