SS 309 pipe fittings are formed of an austenitic stainless steel alloy with 22–24% chromium and 12–15% nickel. This alloy provides superior resistance to oxidation and corrosion, especially in high temperature. The mechanical strength consists of a minimum tensile strength of 550 MPa, yield strength of 205 MPa, and elongation of approximately 40%. SS 309 has good mechanical strength at high temperatures and offers good thermal and creep resistance. These qualities make it ideal for high-temperature conditions, along with having great weldability, toughness, and extended service life in many industrial uses.
