Stainless Steel Plates and Sheets are commonly made up of different grades such as 304, 304L, 316, and 316L. Type 304 has about 18% chromium and 8% nickel, giving common corrosion resistance. Type 316 introduces 2-3% molybdenum, which greatly improves resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion in chloride environments. Mechanically, they have high tensile strength (e.g., 515-620 MPa for 304) and yield strength (e.g., 205-310 MPa), along with good ductility, formability, and weldability, which makes them very versatile for various applications.
