Vinit Stainless is a well-known distributor of AWS Class E308/308L-16 Electrodes in Chennai, India, for delivering welding solutions that fulfill stringent industrial requirements. These electrodes are specifically developed for welding low carbon austenitic stainless steels like 304L and 308L, in which resistance to intergranular corrosion is critical. Vinit Stainless has strict controls in quality to deliver the best performance of the electrodes in terms of arc stability, bead appearance, and spatter minimization. Their E308/308L-16 electrodes find extensive applications in food processing, chemical, pharmaceutical, and architectural sectors where hygiene, corrosion resistance, and weld integrity take priority.
E308/308L-16 Electrodes have 19–21% chromium, 9–11% nickel, and ≤0.04% carbon, which reduces carbide precipitation and intergranular corrosion risk. The weld deposit is wholly austenitic with excellent corrosion resistance in oxidizing conditions. Typical mechanical properties are tensile strength of approximately 580 MPa, yield strength of 400 MPa, and elongation of 30%. These electrodes are best suited for use in applications that demand clean, high-quality welds on 304L/308L stainless steel. The low carbon enhances weldability and has them fit perfectly in corrosion-sensitive applications.

These electrodes offer high corrosion resistance and are suitable for welding 18-8 stainless steel. They have a heavy coating for enhanced stability and smoother arc performance. Sizes typically range from 1/8″ to 5/32″ in diameter.
Offering excellent corrosion resistance, these electrodes are used for welding similar types of stainless steel. The light coating aids in maintaining a clean arc with minimal spatter. They are available in sizes from 3/32″ to 1/8″ in diameter.
These electrodes provide robust corrosion resistance and are designed for shielded arc welding processes. They ensure stable arc performance and minimal weld defects. Common sizes include 1/16″ to 3/16″ in diameter.
AWS E308/308L-16 Electrodes are employed for welding austenitic stainless steels such as 304L, 308L, and other grades where the requirement is low carbon content for corrosion resistance. Applications include food processing, pharmaceutical, brewing, and pulp & paper sectors that utilize these electrodes to manufacture and rehabilitate tanks, pipes, and process equipment. Their superb weldability and low spatter capabilities make them ideal for importance structural and sanitary welds. They are also well suited for situations where post-weld heat treatment is impractical. Their intergranular corrosion resistance makes them the first choice for welding in highly hygienic or oxidizing conditions.
