Vinit Stainless, Chennai, India, is a leading exporter of AWS Class E309/309H-16 Electrodes used in high-temperature welding operations. The electrodes are meant to weld dissimilar metals or apply stainless steel overlay on carbon steel, particularly in hot-heat conditions. Vinit Stainless maintains uniform quality with each batch, delivering electrodes with stable arcs, hassle-free slag removal, and high metallurgical bonding strength. E309/309H-16 is relied upon by petrochemical, refinery, and boiler fabrication industries for structural strength and service under thermal cycling. Vinit Stainless remains a reliable partner in welding solutions with emphasis on strength and accuracy.
E309/309H-16 Electrodes consist of 22–24% chromium, 12–14% nickel, and 0.04–0.08% carbon. Elevated carbon content enhances creep strength and strength in high-temperature service. Mechanical properties are tensile strength of about 600 MPa, yield strength of 430 MPa, and elongation of 30%. The weld deposit is completely austenitic and possesses superior oxidation resistance up to 1100°C. These electrodes find application in buffer layers or dissimilar metal welds for high-temperature strength and thermal shock resistance, particularly in structural overlays and joints.

Designed for welding stainless steel to mild steel or other stainless steel types, these electrodes offer high corrosion resistance. Typically available in sizes like 3/32″ to 1/8″ diameter, they provide excellent weld quality with minimal spatter.
These electrodes are ideal for general-purpose welding, offering good corrosion resistance for stainless steel applications. Sizes usually range from 1/8″ to 3/16″ in diameter, and they ensure smooth welding with light flux coatings for improved visibility and control.
Suitable for heavy-duty welding tasks, these electrodes enhance corrosion resistance and are used for thick stainless steel sections. Common sizes include 5/32″ to 1/4″ diameter, featuring a thicker coating for robust and stable arc performance.
AWS Class E309/309H-16 Electrodes find regular use in welding dissimilar metals, such as stainless steel to carbon or low-alloy steel, particularly high-temperature applications. Typical applications include power generation, pressure vessels, furnaces, and chemical plants. The increased carbon adds creep strength, which is why these electrodes are best for parts that experience prolonged exposure to heat. E309/309H-16 is also employed in buffer layers prior to the application of hard-facing alloys or corrosion-resistant overcladding. These electrodes produce welds that are tough, ductile, and resistant to scaling and cracking when exposed to thermal cycling and provide long-term service in applications where thermal expansion mismatch and resistance to heat are primary concerns.
