Vinit Stainless is a reputed manufacturer and supplier of AWS Class E309/309L-16 Electrodes in Chennai, India. These electrodes are designed with higher welding performance when used for welding dissimilar metals like stainless steel to mild or carbon steel. Due to their low carbon content and lower intergranular corrosion susceptibility, these electrodes can be perfectly applied for overlay and buffer layers. Vinit Stainless provides top-quality welding consumables under strict manufacturing guidelines with great arc stability and slag removal. Vinit Stainless is relied upon by industries in India and internationally for trustworthy electrodes to produce consistent, high-quality welds in tough operating conditions.
AWS E309/309L-16 Electrodes consist of 22–24% chromium, 12–14% nickel, and up to 0.04% carbon. This low carbon version of E309 reduces precipitation of carbides, giving increased resistance to intergranular corrosion. Deposited weld metal is completely austenitic in nature and exhibits very good oxidation resistance. Mechanical characteristics are tensile strength of about 570 MPa, yield strength of about 400 MPa, and elongation of 30%. The electrodes offer smooth and sound welds with minimum cracking, even on thermal cycling, for applications in buffer layers and joining dissimilar metals.

These electrodes offer good resistance to oxidation and corrosion in moderate environments. Typically available in sizes ranging from 1/16″ to 1/8″ in diameter, they are ideal for applications requiring light coatings and smooth welding.
Designed for enhanced corrosion resistance and durability, these electrodes are available in diameters from 3/32″ to 5/32″. The heavy coating ensures a robust weld in demanding conditions, providing stronger welds with superior mechanical properties.
Offering excellent corrosion resistance, these electrodes are used in shielded metal arc welding applications. They are available in diameters such as 1/16″, 3/32″, and 1/8″, providing versatile options for various welding needs.
AWS E309/309L-16 Electrodes find extensive applications in welding dissimilar metals, such as stainless steel to carbon or low-alloy steels. They are also employed for buffer layers during hard-facing or overlaying of parts. Typical industries involve petrochemical, power generation, pressure vessels, and furnace production. The electrodes work effectively in structual welds and repair applications in corrosive or high-temperature conditions. Their low carbon levels minimize the possibility of sensitization and weld decay, and thus are acceptable for use in applications with long-term corrosion resistance. E309/309L is equally useful for constructing transition joints and maintenance work with mixed-metal structures.
