E316/316H-16 electrodes have 18–20% Chromium, 11–14% Nickel, and 2–3% Molybdenum with 0.04–0.08% carbon content. Higher carbon content enhances high-temperature tensile and creep strength. Weld metal possesses tensile strength of approximately 620 MPa and is very suitable for elevated-temperature service. The electrodes show good weldability with good arc, low spatter, and easy slag removal. They are both AC and DC power source compatible and function well in flat, vertical, and overhead orientations. E316H is suitable for parts that experience thermal cycling and prolonged exposure to heat.
