SS 422 stainless steel has approximately 12% chromium with other carbon (up to 0.25%), molybdenum, and manganese added for strengthening and hardenability. This martensitic stainless steel has mechanical stability in high temperature conditions and is magnetic in nature. SS 422 can be hardened through heat treatment and will remain good in terms of corrosion resistance in mild environments as well.
