SS 465 is an age-hardenable martensitic stainless steel alloy consisting of chromium (11–12%), nickel (10.5–11.5%), molybdenum, titanium, and carbon. It provides tensile strength of up to 1380 MPa and yield strength of 1170 MPa after aging. The alloy has excellent toughness, fatigue strength, and resistance to corrosion in sea and industrial environments. It is machinable in the annealed state and can be aged for ultimate strength. SS 465 has high fracture toughness combined with low distortion when heat-treated, and it is best used in applications that demand accurate dimensional control and performance.
