SS201 sheet and plates consist of around 16–18% chromium, 3.5–5.5% nickel, 5.5–7.5% manganese, and ≤0.15% carbon. Such a composition provides SS201 good strength, moderate corrosion resistance, and outstanding formability. The material possesses tensile strength of approximately 520 MPa and yield strength of about 275 MPa with excellent elongation and hardness. Though less corrosion-resistant than SS304, SS201 is suitable for use in indoor and slightly corrosive conditions. It is also non-magnetic in the annealed state and takes on some magnetic properties when cold worked and is thus used for different kinds of fabrication and structural purposes.
