SS 304H coil contains 18–20% Chromium, 8–11% Nickel, and 0.04–0.10% Carbon. Increased content of carbon raises tensile and yield strength, particularly at higher temperatures. Tensile strength is generally 585 MPa with a yield strength of approximately 240 MPa. It possesses good oxidation resistance up to 870°C and formability. SS 304H is eminently suitable for high-pressure and high-temperature service. But owing to its increased carbon content, precautions should be exercised so that it does not get sensitized upon welding unless post-weld heat treatment is provided.
