SS 309H forged fittings consist of an austenitic stainless steel alloy with 22–24% chromium, 12–15% nickel, and higher carbon content (0.04–0.10%) for enhanced high-temperature strength. The alloy has superior resistance to oxidation and structural stability at high temperatures. Mechanical properties are specified with minimum tensile strength of 550 MPa, yield strength of 205 MPa, and elongation of about 40%. These fittings also possess good creep resistance and thermal stability and are well suited for use in long-term service in demanding applications that entail high heat and mechanical stresses.
