In order to increase strength at higher temperatures, stainless steel 316H pipes, which are high-carbon versions of 316, have a higher carbon content (0.04–0.10%), 16–18% chromium, 10–14% nickel, and 2–3% molybdenum. Especially in chloride environments, molybdenum exhibits exceptional resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion.
