Stainless steel 321 bars are made up of 9–12% nickel and 17–19% chromium. To stabilise the alloy, titanium (Ti) is added in amounts at least five times that of carbon. By doing this, carbide precipitation is avoided during welding and exposure to high temperatures. SS 321 bars have a yield strength of about 205 MPa and a tensile strength of 515–750 MPa. Up to 870°C, the material maintains its strength and resistance to oxidation. For applications involving heat and corrosive environments, SS 321 is a strong and dependable material with good weldability and excellent creep resistance.
