Stainless steel 347H pipes have a higher carbon content (up to 0.10%) than regular 347 and are made up of 17–19% chromium and 9–13% nickel. Niobium (columbium) is added for stability. Strength at high temperatures and resistance to carbide precipitation are improved by this composition. SS 347H has a yield strength of roughly 205 MPa and a tensile strength of 515–750 MPa. It has outstanding creep and stress rupture characteristics and operates well in continuous service at temperatures as high as 870°C. The alloy is appropriate for use in harsh service environments due to its strong corrosion resistance and weldability.
