The stabilised austenitic stainless steels known as Stainless Steel 348 Sheets and Plates are mainly made up of 17–19% chromium and 9–13% nickel, with tantalum and niobium (columbium) added to improve resistance to intergranular corrosion. These components stop carbide precipitation when exposed to high temperatures and during welding. SS 348 has good elongation qualities, a yield strength of about 205 MPa, and a tensile strength of roughly 515–750 MPa. It can be used continuously up to 800°C because it retains its mechanical stability and resistance to oxidation at high temperatures. Additionally, the material is very formable, weldable, and appropriate for applications requiring a lot of heat and pressure.
