SS 410 has a content of 11.5–13.5% chromium and up to 0.15% carbon. This alloy may be heat-treated for high mechanical strength and hardness. Its tensile strength is between 500–700 MPa, yield strength 250–450 MPa, and it offers 20% elongation. SS 410 is resistant to air, water, and a few chemicals, but is less corrosion-resistant than the austenitic grades. It is ferromagnetic in all conditions and possesses good ductility and mechanical wear behavior. SS 410 is machineable and is most suitable for applications where strength is more important than corrosion.
