Stainless Steel XM19, or Nitronic 50 or UNS S20910, is an austenitic stainless steel that contains high amounts of Nitrogen and is strengthened as a result. Its composition is usually around 21-23% Chromium, 11-13% Nickel, 4-6% Manganese, 0.20-0.40% Nitrogen, and trace levels of Molybdenum, Silicon, and Carbon. Its exceptional mechanical properties, such as high tensile strength (usually greater than 690 MPa), high yield strength, and enhanced toughness even at cryogenic temperatures, are due to its unique composition. XM19 also displays exceptional resistance to sensitization.
